Die Kombination information about something bedeutet hier, dass sie Informationen sind, die so etwas wie eine Zusammenfassung über ein Thema darstellen.
Z. B.: A pamphlet which contains “information about something“, aber man kann überhaupt nicht sagen “A booklet on biology.” Man kann stattdessen sagen: “A booklet about biology.”

Wenn man “information of something” so verwendet, bedeutet es im Grunde das Gleiche wie “information about something“.
Sie sollten jedoch besser vermeiden “information of something” zu verwenden, weil es missverstanden werden könnte, es kann daneben “Information belonging to something” bedeuten.
Es wäre viel besser, in diesem Fall immer “information about something” zu verwenden.
